زمانِ نوشته شدن این کلمات، دسترسی ۹۰ میلیون ایرانی به اینترنت آزاد، بیش از دو ماه است که بهصورت کامل قطع شده است. آبِ باریکهای که باقی مانده، صدای جستهوگریختهی دوستان و آشنایانی است که بهمثابهی تلاطم در یک دریای عمیق، هر از گاهی سر از آب بیرون میآورند و با پهنای باندی محدود مینویسند: درود! و باز در پهنای بیانتهای بیاطلاعی ناپدید میشوند. نوشتن پست وبلاگی برای مخاطبی که وجود ندارد و شاید هیچوقت آن را نخواهد خواند، از حداقلترین تناقضهایی است که ایرانیِ اینورِ آب با آن مواجه است.
تناقض و سردرگمیِ بزرگتر، پیدا کردن مسیری بهمراتب روشنتر در میانهی این اتفاقات مهیب است.
بمباران آمریکا، سرکوب رژیم و موج هوش مصنوعی در جهان؛ هر کدام بهتنهایی کافی است تا زندگی را از مدار «عادی بودن» خارج کند و این سؤال بزرگ را ایجاد کند که جایگاه ما بهعنوان اعضای کوچک از جامعهی فناوری در شهری کوچک، در میانهی اینهمه بحران و سردرگمی چیست؟
جواب این سؤال البته ساده است. از هر منظری که بیندیشی، در زمان وقوع چنین بحرانهایی، بقا شرط اول است و احتمالاً بقا همان سختترین کار ممکن است.
قبل از اعتراضات دیماه بود که من سفری کوتاه به تبریز داشتم و با چند نفر از دوستان دربارهی وضعیت فناوری در شهر گپ زدیم. تن نحیف این جامعهی کوچک، نحیفتر و بیرمقتر شده بود. اعضای باقیماندهی آن، حداقل آنهایی که من با آنها بحث کردم، صرفاً دنبال بردهای سریع و کوتاهمدت بودند. هیچکس به دنبال رشد بلندمدت و برنامهریزی برای آینده نبود.
بعد از دیماه و جنگ و وضعیت بینهایت اسفناک دسترسی به اینترنت آزاد، که همچون اکسیژن در شریانهای اقتصاد جهان امروز است، این وضعیت بهمراتب تشدید شده است.
از سوی دیگر، موج هوش مصنوعی در جهان به شدیدترین شکل ممکن در جریان است؛ موجی که در حال تغییر همهچیز است—تأکید میکنم، همهچیز! صنعت نرمافزار فقط طی چهار ماه گذشته دچار انقلابی شده که هیچکس تصورش را نمیکرد. ستونهای صنعت SaaS که دهها سال قدمت دارد، صرفاً در همین چند ماه گذشته به لرزه افتادهاند. (بهروزرسانی پوستهی این وبلاگ و مهاجرت از وردپرس به نسخهی جدید فقط یکی دو بعدازظهر طول کشید؛ کاری که قبلاً چندین ماه زمان میطلبید!)
عدم دسترسی اعضای جامعهی فناوری تبریز (ایران) به مدلهای زبانی، مشابه عدم دسترسی به برنامههایی همچون ورد و اکسل است. بهره نبردن از آنها در عصر امروز، همچون کشیدن جدولهای کاغذی برای حسابداری یک شرکت بزرگ چندملیتی است—همینقدر احمقانه.
این مطلب کوتاه، بهانهای است برای به حرکت درآوردن چرخ خوابیده و بیرمق tabriz.io، پس از سالها سکوت و وقفه. امیدوارم بتوانم با دوستان بیشتری از تبریز ارتباط بگیرم و هر از چند گاهی با انتشار مطلبی در اینجا به آن شهر و جامعه متصلتر باقی بمانم.
At the time of writing these words, access to the free internet for 90 million Iranians has been completely cut off for over two months. What little remains is a thin trickle—the intermittent voices of friends and acquaintances who, like turbulence in a deep sea, occasionally rise to the surface and, with limited bandwidth, write: Hello!—only to disappear again into the vast expanse of unawareness. Writing a blog post for an audience that does not exist, and may never read it, is one of the most basic contradictions faced by an Iranian on this side of the water.
A greater contradiction—and confusion—is finding a clearer path amid these overwhelming events.
U.S. bombings, regime repression, and the global wave of artificial intelligence—each on its own is enough to push life out of any sense of "normalcy" and raise this fundamental question: what is our place, as small members of the tech community in a small city, in the midst of all this crisis and confusion?
The answer, of course, is simple. From any perspective, in times like these, survival is the first condition—and most likely the hardest thing of all.
Before the December protests, I took a short trip to Tabriz and spoke with a few friends about the state of technology in the city. The already frail body of this small community had become even weaker, more drained. Those who remained—at least those I spoke with—were simply chasing quick, short-term wins. No one was thinking about long-term growth or planning for the future.
After December, and with the war and the utterly dismal state of access to the free internet—which today runs through the veins of the global economy like oxygen—this situation has only intensified.
Meanwhile, the wave of artificial intelligence is surging across the world with unprecedented force—a wave that is changing everything, I mean everything. The software industry, in just the past four months, has undergone a transformation no one could have imagined. The pillars of the SaaS industry, built over decades, have been shaken in just these past months. (Updating the theme of this blog and migrating from WordPress to a new version took only an afternoon or two—something that would have taken months before!)
Lack of access to language models for members of the tech community in Tabriz (Iran) is like lacking access to tools such as Word or Excel. Not using them today is like drawing paper tables to do the accounting of a large multinational company—just as absurd.
This short note is an excuse to set the long-idle and worn-out wheel of tabriz.io in motion again, after years of silence and pause. I hope to connect with more people from Tabriz and, from time to time, stay more closely tied to that city and its community by publishing something here.
